Just like the biblical God, Kanye West is a polarizing and controversial figure. Nevertheless, there is ample evidence that Kanye might just be a God in the flesh, whether you like it or not. After all, Kanye did say that “The Bible had 20, 30, 40 characters in it. You don’t think that I would be one of the character’s of today’s modern Bible?” He also has his own Bible. Do we need more evidence? It is titled The Book of Yezus: A Bible for the Modern Day and it changes every reference of “God” to, well, Kanye West. It is meant to be a coffee-table book and one that celebrates the icon that is Kanye West. Also, side note: it retails on Etsy for $20. Still need more evidence? He has a child named Saint. God bless, Kanye. Or, better yet, let him bless us.

Let us leave you with this thought of the day: a God that marries Kim Kardashian and says “I don’t know what’s better: gettin’ laid or gettin’ paid” is a pretty hip and modern God. Anyway, let us carry on...

12. Kanye is Eternal (Kind of)

The Bible consistently makes reference to the fact that God is eternal. In an interview only a couple of hours before Kanye proposed to Kim Kardashian, he stated that he is happy to "be able to live forever in heaven together" (how sweet). However, in an interesting turn of events, it would seem that Kanye might be slightly unsure of just how everlasting he is. That is because he reportedly wants his body to be frozen when he dies so that he can come back to life in the future (he also wants Kim's and his children's bodies preserved as well). According to Kanye, this is "for the sake of mankind." Nevertheless, Kanye will be sure to live on one way or another, even if it is in the form of Kanye's Bound 2 music video.

11. Kanye Does What He Pleases

God does what he wants. Psalm 115:3 tells us so: “But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever he pleases.” Kanye, too, does what he pleases. “Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go.” Call out Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards? Check. Outrageous Twitter rants where he says what he wants? Check. Announce his presidency? Check. Interrupt Beck at the Grammys? Check. Get into an altercation with a paparazzi? Why not. Go on a rant during the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser? Why, yes. It’s pretty clear that Kanye does whatever he pleases and doesn’t care what other people have to say about it.

10. Kanye Struggled Like Jesus

According to the Bible, Jesus struggled a lot in his time. He felt sadness, distress and grief. We all know how his story ended. Kanye, too, has struggled. He said that the media crucified him like Jesus Christ. He also had this to say on the topic: “You guys don’t understand that I did the Yeezy’s, and they eBay’d for $90,000, but I didn’t get a call from Nike the next day. You guys don’t understand that I’ve met with companies and they say, ‘What we’re trying to figure out is how to control you and how to control that.’” We don't need to mention that time he appeared on the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine wearing a crown of thorns.

9. Kanye is All-Knowing (Omniscient)

One of God’s attributes, according to the Bible, is that he is in omniscient. Matthew 7:7 says: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” However, Kanye tells us that he, too, has all the answers, as he once said: “I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus.” He just doesn’t have the answers to his $53 million debt, but we can overlook that for now. Maybe the answers will come to him…

8. Kanye is Worthy

The Bible says that God is worthy of our praise. Revelation 4:11 says: “Worthy are you, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honour and power.” In one of Kanye’s most recent Twitter rants, he proclaimed to be more worthy of being invested in any school in Africa. Kanye Tweeted: “you’d rather open up one school in Africa like you really helped the country…” In other words, Kanye’s ideas are worthy to be invested in - much more than any school in Africa, anyway. What are kids going to learn there that they can’t learn from his lyrics? He also thinks he is worthy of more Grammy Awards - on this, he says, simply: “I think I deserve more.”

7. Kanye Writes History

A lot of us are familiar with the opening Bible passage, in Genesis, that begins with: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” In other words, the Bible says that God created us and our history. But, be still and let us tell you that Kanye writes history, too. How do we know this? Because he told us so. “I feel like I’m too busy writing history to read it,” he famously said. On another occasion, Kanye also said: “I see stuff from the future, and I’m such a futurist that I have to slow down and talk in the present.”

6. Kanye Blesses Us

Deuteronomy 7:13 says: “He will love you, bless you and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground...” You get the idea. Kanye, too, blesses us, in many ways. He blesses us, some might say, with his music, design and well, Bound 2. He blesses us by making Kim Kardashian’s body type the most high class, he supported this by saying: “My daughter has the chance of being shaped like my wife. So between this age and the age where she's like that, I’m gonna be fighting for that shape to be considered the highest of class - or, not the highest of class, at least equal to what someone looks at a skinny model for.” More seriously though, Kanye did also say: “As rich people, our focus shouldn’t be on how we get a new Phantom, how we get a bigger house. Our focus should be on how do we help the middle to the lower class to have a better life?” Even Kim Kardashian doesn’t understand how much of a blessing Kanye is to her, as Kanye once said this on Twitter: “Kim doesn’t understand what a blessing I am to her.”

5. Kanye is Holy

First of all, let’s talk about God’s holiness, according to the Bible. “There is none holy like the Lord; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God,” which is stated in 1 Samuel 2:2. The word ‘holy’ is defined as “devoted entirely to the deity or the work of the deity.” Kanye is just that, for he tells us that he’s “like a vessel, and God has chosen me to be the voice and the connector.” He also casually wore a pair of angel wings at the 2005 Grammy Awards as well. You can get much holier than an angel.

4. Kanye is All-Powerful (Omnipotent)

Omnipotence, or being all-powerful, is another of God’s attributes. In Jeremiah 32:17 it says: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you.” Kanye, however, is so powerful that he can liberate minds: “I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.” Even more, he claims to be the voice of our generation (ahem, Lena Dunham). “I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice.”

3. Kanye Can Save Us

Christians know that only God can save us - the Bible is full of verses saying this. John 3:16-18 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” According to Kanye, however, he too is capable of saving the world - through his design. He had this to say on the topic: “I believe that bad taste is vulgar. It’s like cursing. I think the world can be saved through design, because what is the most distasteful thing someone can do? Kill someone. So, good taste is the opposite of that.” Someone get us a pair of those Yeezy Boost shoes.

2. Kanye is the Greatest

The Bible tells us that God is great. Job 36:26 says: “Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable.” However, we are all aware of the greatness of Kanye West. After all, he has said,"I am the number one human being in music. That means any person that's living or breathing is number two." And again: “I still think I’m the greatest.”

But he also professed that “I am Warhol. I am the number one most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh.” And again, “Man I am the number one living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix.” And, finally, the cherry on the cake: “I think I do myself a disservice by comparing myself to Steve Jobs and Walt Disney and human beings that we’ve seen before. It should be more like Willy Wonka… and welcome to my chocolate factory.”

1. Kanye's Basically a Modern-Day Jesus

In much the same way that Jesus was God in the flesh, Kanye might be considered the modern day Jesus. On several accounts, Kanye himself has made reference to this. He said: “I am God’s vessel. But my greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live.” Need more evidence that Kanye might be Jesus? Kanye was also tempted by Satan just as Jesus was. In his song “Jesus Walks,” he says the “devil is trying to bring him down.” Jesus was also a servant and Kanye has said in the past that “One thing I could say is that I’m a servant.” He also had a bunch of disciples (err, dancers) on stage with him during his 2013 The Yeezus Tour. Only Jesus could have disciples, right?
