Young Hollywood is hotter than ever these days. There are several teenagers who are making their marks in the modeling, acting and music genres, and they have a huge fan following. However, even though there are several teenagers who idolize these stars, there are also some people who can’t stand these young celebrities. Of course, there are several reasons for this, and many of them are unfounded. But the young and famous know that being hated by a section of society is likely a sign that they are growing in popularity.
Some teen stars are hated for the things they say. Others are hated for the relationships they’re allegedly in. Some people hate the fact that these celebrities are young, beautiful and ridiculously rich. Still, there are other young celebrities who aren’t well-liked, but there isn’t a real reason why. But, hey, that’s life. And if these young people can learn this early, they’ll likely have longevity in their careers and personal lives.
Are all of these teen celebs talented? That’s a matter of opinion. Are they all strikingly beautiful? Again, that’s up to the interpretation of the public on any given day. But it’s plain to see that these stars probably aren’t going anywhere any time soon. Here are 13 of the most hated Hollywood teen stars.
13. Emma Watson
Emma Watson, of Harry Potter fame, has been pretty outspoken lately when it comes to gender equality. She’s also the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for the HeforShe campaign. That’s all well and good, but Watson hasn’t exactly learned enough about life for such as weighty position. A lot of people have a problem with her speech, because she extends an “invitation” to men to join in the fight against feminism. Because all men needed was an invitation, right? Clearly, Watson is misguided, even though her intentions are good. There are also people who hate Emma Watson for superficial reasons. They claim that she looks mean and “probably” has a bad attitude. There has also been some controversy about her recent Lancome ad, in which people are claiming that her skin is lightened, which makes people even more skeptical about her feminism message.

Demi Lovato started a promising career with Disney Channel, and had one of the first sitcoms on the network, Sonny With a Chance. After the show, she had some personal issues, and went to rehab for an eating disorder and anxiety. She has revived her career, and many of her songs reflect the fact that she wants to help other young girls who may be going through similar experiences. However, she still has some decidedly sexy and provocative songs, like “Cool For The Summer.” Some people had a problem with her performing the song at the 2015 MTV VMAs, and singer Pink even said that this type of music “won’t save any kids life”. She’s gotten criticism about her constantly changing look, her outspoken attitude and her many tattoos, but Lovato doesn’t seem to care. She’s proud of the progress she’s made, and is ignoring her critics.
11. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus. You either love her or hate her. She’s got fans that have been sticking with her since her Hannah Montana days, but there are also some fans that got on the bandwagon after hearing her music. In recent years, Cyrus has gone from a sweet, innocent girl to a wild child who barely remembers to get dressed before she goes out in public. Sure, it could be a phase, but this “phase” seems to be lasting a little longer than some people would like. From grinding on Robin Thicke at the VMAs (Thicke was still married at the time), to starting a feud with Nicki Minaj (also at the VMAs), Miley Cyrus has just as many haters as fans.

When Selena Gomez was dating Justin Bieber, she actually got death threats online from female fans who were obsessed with her boyfriend. Of course, these fans also had lots of nasty things to say about Gomez, all because she was dating “their” Justin. Even after the couple broke up, people continued to criticize the former Disney star for everything from her new movie roles to her music. Selena seems to understand that this “hate” comes with being in the business, and she seems to have let it roll off her back for the most part. Allegedly, she and Bieber are talking about getting back together (Justin has stated that he wants to marry Selena one day), so she’d better brace herself for those nasty online messages again.
9. Ariana Grande
There’s no denying that Ariana Grande is extremely talented. She’s a great comedic actress and is a vocal powerhouse. However, there are still some people who don’t care for her. They don’t like the fact that she always wears her hair in a high ponytail, and they don’t like the way she dresses. Bette Midler even commented on the fact that talented singers don’t have to be half-naked on stage, and she was referring to Grande (in part). The ex-girlfriend of Big Sean also got into trouble with the public when she allegedly licked the baked goods in a donuts shop and made some disparaging remarks about America. She’s tried to redeem herself, and some people have accepted her apology. But some people will always hold it against her.
8. Chloe Grace Moretz
Chloe Grace Moretz is a talented actress who got her start at a young age. She brings depth to her roles, and has even done some modeling. A lot of people seem to have a problem with the fact that the teen star isn’t on the gossip blogs, involved in any scandalous relationships, or leaving parties while clearly intoxicated. Of course, if Moretz were doing these things, she’d still be criticized by some people. Chloe also got some backlash when she was allegedly asked to join Taylor Swift’s “squad” and declined. It’s pretty safe to say that Swift fans weren’t too happy about that, but it did help to get Chloe a little more publicity.
7. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is known for dating a guy, breaking up with him a few months later, and then writing a hit record about the experience. She also puts her foot in her mouth on Twitter from time to time, and has an “elite” group of friends that people apparently have to be invited to join. These are just some of the reasons people hate Taylor Swift. Some also claim that Swift doesn’t really write the songs she sings, even though she says the lyrics are her own. There are also claims that Taylor isn’t really a nice person, even though she promotes female friendships in public and often does charitable work.
6. Zendaya
Zendaya has been criticized for her hairstyles, and was outspoken about her photos being airbrushed in a magazine. During an episode of Fashion Police, Guiliana Rancic jokingly commented that Zendaya probably smelled like “patchouli, maybe weed” because she was wearing faux-locs. Zendaya has also been criticized by people who say that her parents are ugly, and she quickly responded to these hurtful comments on social media. The Disney star, singer and dancer has recently recorded a single with Chris Brown, so we’re guessing she’s not afraid of the criticism that will bring, either.

Ever since the world knew that she could “whip her hair back and forth,” Willow, the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith has been stirring up controversy. People say that Willow acts way too old for her age, and is able to do things that no teenager should be able to do. She is also criticized for the way she dresses and wears her hair (she’s shaved her head several times). Willow has been praised by her parents for her intelligence and sense of creativity, which is likely where most of her confidence comes from.
4. Jaden Smith
Willow’s older brother Jaden, is probably harmless, but he is pretty strange. He recently signed on to be a model for Louis Vuitton. However, he’s modeling women’s clothes for the designer, and the internet is filled with comments about why his parents have failed him by letting him model skirts. Jaden has also commented about the notion that children don’t need to go to school, and should just learn from life experiences. He’s a talented actor, and has appeared with his father in several movies. Jaden is also a rapper like his dad, and is close friends with Justin Bieber. He once had a “thing” with Kylie Jenner as well. According to some people, these are just more reasons to hate him.
3. Justin Bieber
There are lots of reasons for people to hate Justin Bieber. He throws tantrums during press conferences, he gets in trouble for getting into fights, and gets mad at his fans for not clapping on the right beat during concerts. He’s also run into trouble with the law a few times, and there are at least three women who claim that Justin Bieber has fathered their children. Oh, and he reportedly cheated on Selena Gomez, which is the reason they are no longer together. Justin seems to be cleaning up his act these days, and there are talks of him and Selena reigniting their romance.
2. Kendall Jenner
Some people hate Kendall Jenner because she’s part of the Kardashian family. Some people hate her because she’s beautiful and has modeling contracts with Estee Lauder and Chanel. There are some people who don’t care for Kendall because she threw a tantrum at Coachella because she couldn’t get into a party for being underage. Then again, she was with her friend Justin Bieber, and his whiny ways could have rubbed off on her. Obviously, the reasons to “hate” Kendall Jenner are endless. But there’s no denying that she’s one of the most level-headed members of her family, and is even more logical and less dramatic than her big sisters at times.

She’s had other procedures done, but doesn’t want to talk about them. She started dating rapper Tyga, was she was just 17 and he was 26. There were also talks that Kylie, who recently turned 18, was barely able to finish high school because she was too busy being obsessed with fame. Of course, some people just hate Kylie because she’s an entitled Kardashian with millions of dollars at her disposal. There’s not really much that anyone can do about that.
