Even celebrities can become ashamed of their families, that could be for a lot of reasons. Some of these celebrities are not only embarrassed by their families, but some of them don’t want anything to do with their families. Maybe they are losers, or drug addicts and just embarrassed them at every turn. The situations have become so bad that some of the celebrities even emancipated themselves from their parents. Now that’s pretty serious.
We all have been embarrassed by our families at one point or another but never to the extent that we would never want them in our lives. Some of these celebrities leave their parents at a young age while others become estranged from them later on in life. You might be shocked to hear which celebrities don’t want anything to do with family members. What would it take for you to not want to be around your parents, what would embarrass you that much?
Even Tracy Morgan didn’t want anything to do with his family and in 2012 he stated, "As of this moment, I'm estranged from my own mother and most of my family, and I'm not sure that's going to change much. I'm not saying why I'm just saying that's how it is. It's okay though. I've gotten used to it. I'm an island, kind of like Antigua: hot and humid, definitely a destination of choice if you want to get freaky or just kick back. And pretty isolated."
Kate Hudson
Most people would assume that Kate Hudson is the daughter of Kurt Russell because she adores him so much. But that’s not the case; he’s her stepfather. Hudson is her last name however and many wonder about her real father. She’s estranged from him however and she claims that it’s because he abandoned her. Her father is Bill Hudson and he was never in the picture. He never went out of his way to spend time with her or her brother Oliver. She’s certainly bitter any time that she talks about him and when Father’s Day came around, she stated that in regards to her own father it should be called “Happy Abandonment Day.” Her father retaliated by saying that she should give up her last name if she wasn’t happy with him.
Meghan Markle
Meghan Markle’s life is about to become a fairytale, something that girls dream of becoming — a princess. Unfortunately, when you marry into the Royal family, there is a chance that any skeletons in your closet may come out. In her case, she does have some embarrassing family members that she probably wishes she didn’t have. Her uncle Gary loves to party, he also loves to snort coke, but that’s not even the half of it. She has a half-sister Samantha who must have seen dollar signs when she found out that Meghan was getting married. She claims to be writing a memoir titled, The Dairy of Prince Pushy’s Sister. Samantha claims that Meghan isn’t as nice as she portrays to the public. “The royal family would be appalled by what she’s done to her own family.” Her half-brother Tom Jr., pointed a gun at his girlfriend while drunk and the charges were later dropped. This family sounds like a handful.
Reese Witherspoon
When it comes to celebrities, they try to put off the best front and the last thing they want is for scandals or rumors to start. The last thing they want is for their family to start behaving badly. We bet that you didn’t know that Reese Witherspoon had a brother. Truth be told neither did we. The reason for that is probably because she’s embarrassed by him and we couldn’t really blame her. Her brother is John D. Witherspoon and he’s been a naughty boy. Apparently, her brother spends a lot of time in Nashville attacking women. Shocked? So, were we. He has been arrested multiple times for sexual assault and aggravated battery. He once entered the home of a young girl and attacked her while she slept. Talk about horrifying. When Reese was once interviewed, she was asked about her brother, which she replied, “No comment.”
Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera may have become a different person entirely had her mother stayed married to her father. When Aguilera was only six, her mother left her father. Aguilera wasn’t crushed by the divorce like most kids are because her father used to batter her mother as well as Aguilera and her sister. If anything, the divorce was a way out for everyone. Fausto is her father’s name and he’s denied publicly that he ever hit his children, although he did admit to hitting their mother. Fausto has a rather large family, but Aguilera won’t have anything to do with them. She has very limited contact with her family members and doesn’t have any contact with her father at all. It must be embarrassing for someone like her who has achieved so much in her life to have a father like that.
Dane Cook
When you think of your siblings, you probably have warm memories of them. They are supposed to love you just as much as you love them. Some celebrities have siblings that aren’t famous and that must be a little weird for them, but it usually doesn’t mean that they have to be estranged. In the case of Dane Cook, his brother took advantage of him. We have to assume that at some point Cook let his brother Darryl McCauley handle his finances. He sure regretted that however as he embezzled a huge portion of Cook’s bank account, stealing millions of his hard-earned dollars. He was sent to prison for six years. It must be wild for Cook to have to explain that he has a brother in prison. But we imagine he just pretends that his brother doesn’t exist at all.
Brie Larson
Brie Larson is another celebrity with daddy issues. She is most known for her role in Room and although she is a young actress, she is wise beyond her years. That could have a lot to do with the things she saw as a child. She was another girl whose parents got divorced when she was young (ten years old). She has alluded to having a tough childhood in interviews, that her home life was volatile. We have to wonder if there was abuse in her home as well. These days she hasn’t spoken to her dad in more than ten years. "When legally I didn't have to have visitation with him anymore, I jumped on it," Larson said. "As a kid, I tried to understand him and understand the situation. But he didn't do himself any favors. I don't think he ever really wanted to be a parent. It wasn't until truly recently that I realized that's why so much of my work was so volatile."
Laurence Fishburne
Having a celebrity father would be like a dream come true, wouldn’t it? After all, you would have access to a lavish lifestyle. You would have the best clothing, the best education and imagine the amazing vacations that you could go on. So, it must have come as a great shock to Laurence Fishburne when he found out that his beautiful daughter had been arrested for prostitution. We’re not sure why a girl would want to sell her body when she has a rich and famous father. She actually thought it would be cool to use her dad’s reputation and street cred to start a career in porn because obviously, prostitution wasn’t embarrassing enough. Her porn name in case you want to check it out is Chippie D, but we doubt you will be impressed. What’s worse is that there is a picture of her bottom with pockmarks on it if you google it. There is a lot to be embarrassed about here.
Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Culkin literally divorced himself from his parents and no longer has contact with them. During his Home Alone days when he was really wracking in the doe, he started having some issues with his family. Apparently, his parents wanted control over his money and there were rumors that they were even spending some of it. Culkin didn’t want them to control his finances, so he became emancipated from them at 14 years old. They battled about it, but in the end, the courts went in favor of Culkin. He has been estranged from his parents ever since, even after his father had a stroke in 2014, Culkin still didn’t contact them. The family tried to reach out to him, but he refused to speak to any of them or to see them. It appears he doesn’t even care what his father’s condition is.
Jennifer Aniston
It’s no secret that Jennifer Aniston has had a difficult time with her mother, so much so that she stopped talking to her for many years. When Aniston got super famous in the hit TV show Friends, her mother saw an opportunity. She thought it would be cool if she wrote her memoirs and she included a lot of stuff about Aniston in them. The book is called From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir and it included things that Aniston would have rather not been made public. That was all it took for Aniston to lose it and stop speaking to her mother. Aniston has said some shocking things about her mother, “This is my last chunk of disease in my life - my mom. I don't know if I would have known how beautiful she was if she wasn't always pointing out how unbeautiful I was.” She called her mother one time and said, “I'll never forgive you. Never.”
Paris Hilton
It’s surprising that Paris Hilton could ever be embarrassed by anyone considering the stuff that she did while she was growing up. She’s had a few scandals herself over the years. We wonder if her parents are just totally embarrassed by all of their children. You may not be aware that the socialite has a brother named Barron Hilton, we certainly don’t hear much about it. Probably because he’s an embarrassment to the family. It amazes us that a family with that amount of wealth and fortune does not have an ounce of class to them. Barron has not only been charged with a DUI, but he also was arrested for running over a gas station employee. Wow, how does that even happen? How do you just run someone over? We really don’t have much else to say about that.
Katy Perry
As we know, Katy Perry is a pretty open-minded girl so it must totally suck to have an Anti-Semitist for a father. She doesn’t talk to her father much these days; he’s a minister which is a shocking profession for someone with his views. He thinks that rich people stink, literally. So, who knows what he must think of his own daughter. “You know how to make the Jew jealous? Have some money, honey,” preached Keith Hudson. “You go to LA and … where we live and it is so rich it smells. You ever smell rich? They are all Jews, hallelujah. Amen.” If you saw him, you would recognize him by the huge cross around his neck. That or the fact that he is spewing hate wherever he goes. We can totally understand why she would be embarrassed by him.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore is 42 years old now, but when she was 15 years old, she emancipated herself from both her parents. It must be so hard for such a young girl to have to make the decision to give up on her parents when it’s during a time when she probably needs them the most. Barrymore was around all the Hollywood parties her parents attended and was exposed to a lot of the alcohol at the parties. She became an alcoholic at a very young age. She felt that her parent’s environment was just too unhealthy for her. For most of her life, Barrymore has rarely spoken to her mother and it’s been a struggle. "It's the hardest subject in my life. I've never just been angry with her. I've always felt guilt and empathy and utter sensitivity. But we can’t really be in each other's lives at this point."
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is quite the diva in Hollywood and she lives a very lavish lifestyle. It must be very embarrassing to have a sister that is causing scandals. Her sister’s name is Alison Carey Scott and Mariah pretends that she doesn’t exist and there is a reason for that. So, while Mariah lives in luxury every single day of her life, her sister makes a living by providing “personal companionship and erotic body rubs.” We couldn’t make this stuff up if we wanted to. It must be mortifying to Mariah to have a family member like this. Not only does Alison provide erotic massages but she has been arrested twice for prostitution. Alison has been in rehab several times and Mariah has paid for those stints in rehab. We’re sure that Mariah just wants her sister to get control over her life.

You can totally see the family resemblance here! She’s got the same mouth as her aunt Julia Roberts and she sure looks like her father Eric Roberts. She became estranged from her father when she was just an infant when her parents separated. It’s alleged that her father was very volatile probably the result of his drinking. He’s also had an on and off again relationship with his sister Julia Roberts. Things weren’t great between his wife and him and when it came time to go to court during the divorce proceedings Julia actually spoke on behalf of the wife and not her brother. That’s how strongly she felt about having him involved in her niece’s life. So, this family embarrassment is not only Emma’s but Julia’s as well. Emma has had quite the successful career in Hollywood for someone so young, so it hasn’t had that much of a negative effect on her life.

She grew up amongst speculation that the police botched the investigation and that many people believed that her father was murdered by her mother, Courtney Love. She had no choice but to be raised by her mother and it must have been a struggle considering Love didn’t always make healthy choices in her life. In 2009, however, Frances’ had enough. Although she never went so far as to have herself emancipated from her mother she did get a restraining order against her which probably didn’t sting any less. She was only 17 at the time and she went into the care of her grandmother on her father’s side as well as his sister. We suppose it’s his side of the family that she feels safest with.
