They call it Black Friday because that’s the day large retail stores “go into the black”. That is, they pay back all their debts by selling a crapton of stuff for the Holiday season. But in recent years, the unofficial holiday has gotten a new meaning for the moniker Black Friday. A far more sinister meaning.

Since Black Friday became a thing in the early 2000s, it has resulted in at least 10 deaths and over 100 injuries from shoppers scrambling to get the best deal. The crush of the crowds trying to get into stores has certainly been the bulk of reported injuries, but there’s another source of Black Friday bruises: brawls.

Every year, it seems there is yet another fight that breaks out in malls across America as tempers flare between competing customers. When prices are low and the stock is scarce, and more than one hand reaches for that flat screen TV that’s 50 percent off, then two people can come to blows.

Here are five of the most insane Black Friday fights to have ever happened. As a warning, what you are about to see contains graphic violence and explicit language. Viewer discretion is advised.

Vintage Faire Mall, Modesto, California, 2016

Things went absolutely insane at the Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto California, after a group of young men started fighting over the last pair of jeans on sale at a JC Penney. Mall security was absolutely helpless as almost a dozen men took part in the brawl. The brawl seemed to expand as it went on, eventually taking down signage as well as people.

Westfield Annapolis Mall, Annapolis, Maryland, 2014

Women can be just as vicious as men. A brawl broke out near the entrance of a Victoria’s Secret when two women got into an altercation. The woman in the white “UP” sweater accused a 17-year-old of poking her in the eye, which in the heat of Black Friday shopping caused the two to come to blows. After the sweatered woman knocked the 17-year-old to the ground, her friend in the green headband backed her up and a brawl ensued. Store staff and helpful bystanders eventually separated the women, and the 17-year-old went home with minor injuries.

Franklin Mills Mall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 2013

We’re not quite sure what instigated this brawl, but we are sure what stopped it. About 20 seconds into the fight, the woman in the grey sweater takes out a taser and starts zapping her assailant. Her friend drags the electrocuted combatant away while the taser-wielding woman unsteadily gets to her feet. Note the baby carriage sitting in the background that clearly belongs to one of the brawling women and is helpfully dragged away by a bystander while the fight is going on.

Walmart, Atlanta, Texas, 2011

First, yes, there is an Atlanta in Texas, not just Georgia. And yes, it’s just as crazy during Black Friday sales. Maybe even more so. A mad free-for-all breaks out at a Walmart after towels go on sale for $1.48. That’s a great price, but a fight over towels? If you look closely, a woman wearing a black and white striped shirt actually falls into the display and starts shouting “let me out,” before finally extracting herself from the fracas.

Walmart El Paso, Texas, 2015

Most big box stores started hiring additional security to keep the mob orderly during Black Friday. An El Paso Walmart actually got the fuzz to help out, which turned out to be a smart move. When flatscreen TV’s went on sale for an insane price in 2015, the police had to stop a brawl between shoppers all fighting for the last few units. One woman refused to let go of her TV even as the cops were cuffing her. Now that’s dedication.
