David Arquette, 48, will be reuniting with his ex-wife, Courteney Cox, for Scream 5. The actor will reprise his role as Sheriff Dewey Riley, and the Friends actress will once again star as television reporter Gale Weathers.

Arquette told ET that he loves working with his ex-wife, with whom he shares a 16-year-old daughter, Coco. The two met on the set of original Scream in 1996 and married in 1999. After separating in 2010, they divorced in 2013.

The actor and professional wrestler says the former couple maintains a close relationship since they co-parent. He’s looking forward to revisiting the Scream franchise, thought its creator and original director, Wes Craven, died in 2015. Scream 5 will be directed by Radio Silence, which consists of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Dewey asked Gale to marry him in Scream 3. In the sequel, the couple has been married for ten years, yet has no children. Cox, 56, and Arquette, will hopefully be joined by Neve Campbell, who played heroine Sidney Prescott in the four previous Scream films, though the Party of Five actress has yet to confirm her commitment to the film. She has, however, started negotiations.

The new film is set to go into production soon, yet it’s still unclear when filming will begin. Arquette, however, is already growing out his character’s iconic mustache. He also claims he was responsible for Cox's infamous bangs in Scream 3, which have become a popular social meme.

Currently, Arquette is promoting his new film, Spree, a dark comedy about a ride-share driver named Kurt Kunkle, played by Stranger Things' Joe Keery, who devises a deadly plan to go viral on social media. The film is now in theaters and On Demand.

Cox also has several projects in the works, including the highly anticipated The One Where They Got Back Together, a Friends reunion being developed for HBO Max that would feature the whole cast as well as the creators. The unscripted special, which was set to film on the Friends stage on March 23 and 24, has been postponed indefinitely, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
