American musician and a founding member of the rock band Eagles. He is the drummer and one of the lead singers for the Eagles, has swooped into the Westside Los Angeles neighborhood of Mar Vista, where the rocker has paid nearly $4.3 million to buy a spacious property for his son, 24-year-old Will Henley.
While the house isn’t quite as iconic as Hotel California, the open-concept structure is admirably attractive and crisply contemporary. Originally built in 1950, the residence was rebuilt in recent years and completely redesigned by architect Thane Roberts. Located on a quiet, family-friendly street, the 3,500-square-foot house packs in four bedrooms, all of them with ensuite bathrooms.
Per Dirt, Skylights and picture windows flood the home with natural light, and there are honey-colored hardwood floors throughout. On the main level, a double-height living room merges seamlessly with the formal dining area and eat-in kitchen, the latter equipped with a large island and premium stainless appliances. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliders allow for a seamless indoor/outdoor lifestyle, and the 7,300-square-foot lot’s backyard is decked out with a built-in BBQ center, covered dining area and saltwater swimming pool.
Back inside, there’s a powder room and one bedroom suite downstairs, ideal for overnight guests or a live-in housekeeper. Upstairs are a second family room and the remaining three bedrooms; the primary suite features a walk-in closet and soaking tub, while either of the other two bedrooms could easily function as an office or work-from-home man cave.
Henley is known as something of an environmental crusader, so it’s no surprise that his son’s new home strives to be very green. The grassy lawn out back is all AstroTurf, while the front yard offers a pleasant mix of drought-tolerant, native plantings. The house is topped with a metal roof made from recycled material, which also helps with indoor cooling; there are also solar panels and a Tesla charger in the garage, naturally.
With 50 years in the music industry and a net worth that reportedly tops $200 million, Henley can easily afford this Mar Vista splurge. It appears he faced some competition for the property, which last sold in 2019 for $3.1 million — the almost $4.3 million sale price was nearly $300,000 over the seller’s original ask. Mar Vista, a densely-populated upscale neighborhood just inland from Venice, has recently become en vogue with much of L.A.’s burgeoning tech industry crowd, causing prices to soar.
And this is not the first time Henley has bought a home for one of his children. Back in 2018, he acquired a bungalow near West Hollywood that is reportedly occupied by his daughter Annabel. As for the Eagle himself, his longtime main residence remains a Dallas compound, but he also owns a seaside vacation home and 40-acre vegetable ranch in Malibu.
