The Dallas Cowboys have made yet another blockbuster offseason move.

According to Kimberley A. Martin of ESPN.com, Pro Bowl defensive end Everson Griffen signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys worth $6 million. It's a $3 million base salary with $3 million in roster bonuses.

Griffen was one of the biggest names available on the free agent market. The cap-strapped Minnesota Vikings released him earlier this offseason, with many believing that Griffen would eventually return on a more team-friendly pact.

But that wasn't the case. Griffen patiently waited for the right offer, and the Super Bowl hopeful Cowboys managed to reach a deal, with the regular season now just a month away.

The four-time Pro Bowler has recorded at least eight sacks in five of the last six seasons. Griffen had eight for the Vikings in 2019, helping them reach the NFC Divisional Round - where they eventually fell to the San Francisco 49ers.

For his career, Griffen has 74.5 sacks, 16 passes defended and nine forced fumbles. He has recorded double-digit sacks three times (2014, 2015 and 2017).

Griffen joins a Cowboys front seven that looks like it could be the best in football. It includes DeMarcus Lawrence, Leighton Vander Esch, Jaylon Smith and offseason acquisitions Aldon Smith, Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy.

Needless to say, new head coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan are going to have so much fun with a plethora of playmakers to round out the defense. Adding Griffen, simply put, strengthens a strength.

The Cowboys were one of the busiest teams this offseason; it all started with an overhauled coaching staff, with McCarthy replacing Jason Garrett. The team also had a tremendous showing at the draft, landing future star receiver CeeDee Lamb with the No. 17 pick.

Owner Jerry Jones also managed to re-sign Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper to a $100 million contract, keeping the Cowboys' offensive juggernaut intact for 2020.
