On Wednesday, the FBI executed a federal search warrant at YouTube star Jake Paul's home in Calabasas. The bureau told E! News that the search warrant is part of an ongoing investigation but did not comment on the nature of the raid since the affidavit is sealed.
Paul, who hasn’t posted anything on social media since August 2, was not spotted at any time during the raid. According to a source, uniformed FBI agents arrived at Paul's home at around 6:45 am and searched the property for two hours. There were an estimated 20 vehicles on the property and another five on the road.
According to TMZ, the FBI seized several weapons from Paul’s home. The outlet also claimed that a second raid took place at Graffiti Mansion in Las Vegas, which is seemingly owned by Armani Izadi, a friend of Paul’s. Several people were reportedly led out of the home in handcuffs.
Paul's attorney, Richard Schonfeld, told TMZ that Paul was out-of-state during the raid on his home, adding that they were prepared to fully cooperate with the investigation. The FBI told the LA Times that no were planned.
In June, Paul, who has more than 20 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, was charged with criminal trespass and unlawful assembly after attending a protest. Police claim he was also spotted on video inside an Arizona mall when it was closed during the protest. Paul, 23, had denied that he took part in looting or vandalism.
He did admit to being at a peaceful protest, which he was filming, but said that police tear-gassed the crowd and forced them to move on. He added that he did not condone violence or looting yet understood the anger and frustration people felt.
On July 11, 2020, Paul had a large party at his home in which guests were seen without masks. After complaints and videos showed up on social media, Calabasas mayor Alicia Weintraub stated that the city was looking into options regarding penalties for Paul for violating social distancing protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.
