Over the years, Springer has become known for his no-holds-barred approach to tackling sensitive and often taboo subjects, and his show has become a staple of daytime television. Who Is Jerry Springer?
Born Gerald Norman Springer to Richard and Margot Springer in Highgate, London, England, on the 13th day of February 1944, during the Second World War, Jerry Springer was born in the most unlikely of places. He was born in the London Underground station of Highgate, where people hid to escape German missiles as his parents, who were German-Jewish refugees, were fleeing from Gorzow, Poland. Jerry would later lose many family members, including his maternal and paternal grandmothers to death in concentration camps but was able to migrate to Queens, New York with his immediate family in 1949.
He was raised in Kew Gardens, a neighborhood in Queens, New York, and attended the nearby Forest Hills High School. He proceeded to Tulane University for his undergraduate studies, where he earned a degree in political science before heading to Northwestern University to obtain his law degree in 1968. Today, he is a famous broadcaster and politician who was once the mayor of Cincinnati with a $70 million fortune, which he amassed through a combination of hard work and commitment, having grown up in a working-class family that taught him the value of hard work at an early age.

In 1975, he won back his seat in a landslide victory. He was chosen by the city council to hold the position of mayor for one year in 1977. Due to a political agreement in place at the time, Springer was only able to serve as mayor for one year. In 1982, he ran for the Democratic nomination for governor of Ohio but lost. In the late 1980s, he played a role in saving the Cincinnati Union Terminal.
