After mulling over offers from several teams, the best remaining NFL free agent has finally made his decision.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Tennessee Titans have signed Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year deal worth a maximum value of $15 million.
Clowney played out the final season of his rookie contract with the Seattle Seahawks, having arrived via trade with the Houston Texans. The Seahawks, Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints all made pushes to sign Clowney, but ultimately, the three-time Pro Bowler decided to sign with the reigning AFC runner-ups.
The 27-year-old Clowney, of course, reunites with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. The two worked together in Houston from 2014 (Clowney's rookie year) to 2017.
Vrabel was the Texans' linebackers coach for three years before he was promoted to the defensive coordinator role in 2017. He was then hired as the new head coach of the Titans in 2018.
After recording 9.5 and nine sacks in 2017 and 2018, respectively, Clowney endured a down season with the Seahawks in 2019. He finished with just three sacks, the lowest since his 2014 rookie season (Clowney had zero, but he only played four games that year).

But Clowney's track record and overall talents suggest that a bounce-back year is on the horizon. He should be an excellent fit in Vrabel's defense, and the Titans are in need of pass rushing help after trading Pro Bowler Jurrell Casey to the Denver Broncos.
The Titans' pass rush and stingy defense was instrumental in helping them advance to the AFC Championship last season, where they fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. If Clowney can regain his Pro Bowl form, Tennessee will be in great position to make another deep run in the playoffs.
For his career, Clowney has 32 sacks, 14 passes defended, eight forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries and 236 combined tackles.
