Born on 18th November 1984 in Huntington Beach, California, he attended the Marina High School where he met members of the heavy metal band “Avenged Sevenfold”. In 2002, the band picked him up for the position of the lead bassist. He began playing for the band and was brilliant in his work.
Before joining the band he used to frequently follow the band on tours wherever they went like a roadie. Christ eventually dropped out of high school to replace Daemon Ash and became the band’s lead bassist. This was when Ash left the band in 2002. Christ actually joined the band while they were recording their second song “Walking the Fallen”, and continued with them.
Though his original name is Jonathon, he has always preferred to be called “Johnny”. In fact, he even used to sign autographs as Johnny until Zacky Vengeance the team’s rhythm guitarist told him to add ‘Christ’ to his name. This is how he started to be known as “Johnny Christ”. Apart from the studio albums, Johnny has also performed on many live shows. The studio albums he has released are, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, Waking the Fallen, City of Evil, Avenged Sevenfold and Nightmare. Christ has a live album too by the name of “Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough”.
He is currently residing in Huntington Beach in Orange County.
