Last week was a pretty big one for NBA superstar LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers forward, now a four-time champion, was announced as a part-owner of the MLB's Boston Red Sox. The four-time NBA MVP also saw the trailer to his upcoming movie, Space Jam 2, drop.

As it pertains to the Red Sox, the announcement was made by the Fenway Sports Group (FSG). LeBron's business partner and friend Maverick Carter plus a long-time associate in Paul Watcher are also set to join the ownership group, per CNN.

FSG also owns England's Premier League champions Liverpool Football Club. LeBron has been a minority shareowner in the soccer outfit for several years now and his initial $6.5 million stake rose to $43.6 million after the team won the Champions League in 2019. Last month, the 17-time All-Star revealed he and Carter were poised to become the first Black men to join FSG ownership.

"It gives me and people that look like me, hope and inspiration that they can be in a position like that as well. That it can be done," he said after the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 16. "It's a pretty amazing thing and for me to be able to continue to build my portfolio off the floor also in a beautiful game like baseball."

"Working with Fenway Sports Group for the past decade has taught LeBron and me so much about the business on a global scale, and we've always believed it would lead to something bigger," Carter added.

"We are also pleased to welcome to our ownership group LeBron, Maverick and Paul, with whom we have enjoyed a successful collaboration for well over a decade," FSG said in a statement.  "Their addition is an important milestone for FSG and expands and deepens a longtime friendship and relationship that began in 2010."

The trailer, seen above, launched on the weekend and looks incredible, especially given the surprise characters on show. Space Jam: A New Legacy follows Michael Jordan's Space Jam from 1996. The film will release on HBO Max on July 16.

Meanwhile, James is looking to add another huge accomplishment to his business portfolio, having revealed it's his intention to own an NBA team when he retires.

"I've got so much to give to the game," he also said after that win over the T-Wolves. "I know what it takes to win at this level. I know talent. I also know how to run a business as well. That is my goal ... my goal is to own an NBA franchise. It'll be sooner than later."
