Manmohan Singh was born on the 26th of September, 1932. He is an Indian politician and economist who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. Singh became the first Sikh at the office and the first prime minister. It happened since the re-election of Jawaharlal Nehru after completing a full five-year term. It also enhanced the reputation of Singh globally as an economist who was leading reform-minded. The incumbent Congress party was not able to fare well in the general election last 1996. Singh also became the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. It happened during the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 1998 to 2004.
