Marty McSorley is a retired Canadian hockey player who played for the Los Angeles Kings.
Marty McSorley made his debut into the hockey league when he landed a spot for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1983. When he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers, he was hailed as Wayne Gretzky's bodyguard. He led the Oilers to win the Stanley Cup twice and received the NHL Plus-Minus Award during the 1990-91 season.
In 1988, he moved to Los Angeles Kings as McSorley known for his bruising style that makes him a crowd's favorite. After staying with the Kings for several years, he left the team and traded to the New York Rangers in 1996.
During his career as a hockey player, McSorley played with the San Jose Sharks, and Boston Bruins. He was suspended during the time he's with the Bruins, as he swung his stick and hit Donald Brashear in the head. He was charge with assault during the remainder of the 1999-2000 season.
McSorley tried to continue playing hockey, as he went to the United Kingdom. But he eventually played for the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2001. Aside from being a hockey player, he became the coach of American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons in 2002 and 2004.
