Ne-Yo has been summoned to court, as his ex-girlfriend is demanding child support and primary custody of their two children.
According to court records, Sade Bagnerise has insisted on primary custody of their two children and an urgent monthly child support arrangement. Sade, accompanied by her attorney, made a court appearance last week to address Ne-Yo's previous court filing, which demanded a paternity test.
Last month, the artist launched a paternity and child support claim against Sade. In his formal submission, he noted that they have two underage children named Braiden (born in 2021) and Brixton (born in February 2023).
Ne-Yo petitioned the court to mandate a DNA examination for Brixton, aiming to establish his paternity definitively. Additionally, he requested a legal alteration of Braiden's surname to Smith, aligning it with his own last name.
Moreover, the vocalist appealed to the court for a decision granting him shared physical and legal guardianship of the pair of children. His plea included a request for the court to assess the appropriate monthly child support amount.
However, Sade is now responding to request primary physical custody, though she’s open to splitting joint legal.
She also suggested that Ne-Yo be granted visitation every other weekend, along with shared holiday parenting time on a rotating basis.
She moreover urged the court to approve both interim and enduring child support for her and is also seeking reimbursement for her share of various expenditures related to the children, including medical, educational, extracurricular, and insurance costs.
While Ne-Yo’s ex didn’t directly respond to hi demand for a paternity test over their youngest, but she did note in her filing that the rapper “is the biological father of the parties’ minor children.”
Ne-Yo and Sade only went public with their romance in April, after he filed his divorce from his wife Crystal Renay. It only became public knowledge the pair already share two children.
To settle his divorce from Crystal, Ne-Yo agreed to pay her a $1.6 million settlement. He also agreed to provide Renay with $20,000 to cover relocation costs, along with an additional $150,000 to facilitate her purchase of a new vehicle. He’ll also pay child support for their three children; the pair married in 2016.
However, Ne-Yo may be having to pay even more on a monthly basis if Sade is successful in her child support bid. The case remains ongoing.
