According to CNN, an "estimated one million people" came out to attend the Kansas City Chiefs parade, and the incident occurred toward the end of the festivities.
"An estimated 1 million people gathered [on Wednesday, February 14th] just steps from Union Station in Kansas City for the parade and rally to mark the Chiefs’ repeat championship win, with players still on the stage when the chaos erupted.
"A victory rally following the parade featured several players toasting the team’s connection with the city. The event wrapped up, and then, gunshots rang out."
More than 20 Super Bowl parade attendees were wounded in the shooting.
On February 14th, Travis Kelce tweeted a statement expressing his sorrow and extending condolences to those impacted by the incident:

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a radio DJ from Kansas City, was fatally wounded in the incident.
On February 14th, Kansas City-area station KKFI, her employer, shared a statement to Facebook memorializing Lopez-Galvan:
"It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of Taste of Tejano, lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs' rally.
"Our hearts and prayers are with her family. We encourage anyone who feels they saw something to reach out to law enforcement at 816 234 5111.
"This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community."

On February 15th, a GoFundMe campaign for the family of Lopez-Galvan was created.
A brief GoFundMe campaign description described Lopez-Galvan, and explained:
"This fund has been set up to benefit the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed.
"She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years. She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many.
"We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy. Any amount is appreciated."
In under 24 hours, the campaign had raised nearly $250,000, $100,000 of which reportedly came from Swift.
According to Us Magazine, the GoFundMe campaign initially sought to raise $75,000.
At the time of publication, Swift's name was prominently displayed with a "Top Donation" badge; clicking the link showed two donations from Swift:

"Swift helped the family surpass the $75,000 goal in the early hours of Friday, February 16, initially donating $50,000 and making a second donation of the same amount eight minutes later."
In a comment left alongside one of the $50,000 donations, a comment reportedly left by Swift read:
"Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift[.]"
According to a support page on GoFundMe, the platform's "maximum donation" is $30,000; it was not immediately clear whether the cap had been raised to $50,000.
