We see movies all the time that involve two people making love, and it is rare to find one that involves three people without it being regarded as adult content. Making a movie isn’t always easy if you are trying to make a tasteful scene involving more than two people having sex. This is a list of ten movies that have actual plotlines, and characters that give real meaning to ménage-a-trois, including some actors that you just don’t expect doing such a film. For instance, Kristen Stewart plays a teenager in On the Road, who gets involved with two men. We also see Christian Bale play a homicidal maniac in American Psycho. It’s movies such as these that show just how good these actors can be, and how far they will go to earn their star in Hollywood.

There are a few movies on this list that didn’t quite make the R (restricted) rating, and have been issued the NC-17 rating, which means that absolutely no children would be admitted to a movie theater to watch the movie if the parents went out to see it. No film on this list should be watched by children, anyway. A few of them shouldn’t even be watched by anyone, according to a select few.

10. The Dreamers (2003)

via:filmship.net

The Dreamers is an international film set in France, where an American male student goes to Paris to study. During the time of his stay, he meets a set of twins (brother and sister), in which they become close friends. As a matter of fact, they become so close that the three become romantically involved and share more than just the language. Matthew (the main character) decides to stay with the siblings during his time in the foreign country, and soon realizes how liberal the country really is, when he notices that the two sleep naked in the same bed together. At one point, the three get together and have a fun time during a time of riots in Paris.

9. American Psycho (2000)

Christian Bale plays a rich, handsome investment banker that only cares about himself. During the film we see a bit of what his character is thinking, and how much of a desire that he has for killing. In one part of the film, he hires two prostitutes, and engages in a three-way sexual encounter. This isn’t a love scene, it isn’t even a man living out his fantasy; it is simply a homicidal maniac who only wishes to see himself in the mirror as he is engaging in acts with two other women. The scene shows the reality of a human being who has lost all capabilities of emotion, yet can still function as a somewhat “normal” person.

8. Threesome (1994)

Just as the title suggests, this movie is about a threesome. The story is about a girl who moves in with two men at a college; one of which is homosexual and is in love with the other man (played by Stephen Baldwin). Lara Flynn Boyle plays a girl named Alex, who falls for her roommate, and the three end up having one night of a lived-out fantasy, only to eventually have to worry that Alex has become pregnant during the affair. Eventually the three part ways, but still remain friends after the strong bond that had changed their lives while in college.

7. Wild Things (1998)

In a movie full of multiple plot twists, Neve Campbell, Matt Dillon and Denise Richards get together to celebrate (what they think) is a celebration of a scheme to make a lot of money. In the aforementioned part of the film, the two women start the scene by delicately kissing each other, when Sam (Matt Dillon’s character) walks in and decides to join the two. It gets thoroughly steamy and intense, and the passion escalates as the three enjoy a night of passion. There are other scenes with the three involved, but this is the only part that includes all three characters involved in a romantic setting.

6. Zoolander (2001)

Ben Stiller plays the fashion model, Zoolander, in the satire film of the same name. This movie features a lot of stars; including David Bowie, who was considered a fashion mogul at the time of release. Christine Taylor plays Matilda Jeffries, a journalist whom Zoolander falls in love with during the movie, and there is one scene where the two have a threesome with quite a few other people. I am not quite sure what this would be called, since there were multiple partners involved. Even though it isn’t exactly what one would call sexy, it is quite a humorous part of the film. This movie is rated PG13, so they couldn’t be too explicit with the sex scenes.

5. On the Road (2012)

On the Road is a movie that was made in 2012, based off of a book that takes place at the beginning of 1947. The movie is about a writer who gets bored with his life and decides to drive across the country with his friend. The two men meet a woman along the way, played by Kristen Stewart, who likes to walk a little on the “wild side.” In one scene, she tries to convince the two to hop in bed with her. One of them is on board with it, and they all start to entwine, but the other backs out soon after. In another part of the movie, the trio are in the car when the writer, Sal, wakes from sleep with an idea. The three then sit in the front seat, naked, with Kristen’s character pleasuring the two men with her hands. Not the most romantic scenes in movie history, but memorable enough to make this list.

4. Splendor (1999)

Veronica is a struggling actress who is in her twenties, looking for love. During one Halloween, she meets two men and begins dating them both. Veronica has feelings for both men, and decides to tell them both about each other. At first, the two men despise each other, but after meeting and having a night of drinking, they end up having a three-way relationship. The one night turned into a year, and the two men moved in with Veronica. There is really only one scene in the movie where they are together, but it shows the amount of trouble that men will go through for the perfect woman.

3. Savages (2012)

Two men, Chon and Ben, are highly educated men who are growing marijuana for a business, with seeds that they had acquired from a plant from Afghanistan. These seeds yielded heavily intoxicating plants, and this made the duo a lot of money, by the production and selling of the product. Blake Lively plays Ophelia, a woman in which both men are involved with. During a few different scenes of the movie, the three get high together and show their ongoing love for one another. Eventually, it all goes downhill and the three get into a lot of trouble when a drug cartel takes Ophelia hostage.

2. Ken Park (2002)

via:www.kino.de

Ken Park is a disturbing, controversial independent film that was banned in Australia. It is rumored that other countries have banned it as well, although no definitive references can be found to prove that. The story begins as Ken Park (the main character), a skateboarder that kills himself, and the rest of the movie focuses on his four friends that are continuing on with life in their own, warped way. Each person’s storyline is different, but it’s not until the end where we see three of them end up together in a poignant, yet sensual threesome.

1. Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2009)

via:club.doctissimo.fr

Vicky and Cristina are two good friends who decide to go to Barcelona one summer. While there, they meet some people along the way; including a man named Juan Antonio and his estranged wife, María Elena. Cristina believes that Juan Antonio and his wife are still in love, and thinks that she can help them out by becoming involved with the couple romantically. In one part of the movie, there is an encounter shown of the three, engaged in romantic activity. The actors who portray the characters in this film that are involved in the threesome are Scarlett Johannsson, Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
