TMZ reported on November 15 that the sneaker company has already announced their decision to temporarily cancel the release of the 'Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack' basketball shoes that were scheduled to be launched on the SNKRS app on December 16. Travis Scott's Air Max 1 was to be featured in the Borque Brown and Saturn Gold colors and was to be sold for $160 apiece. That's a major loss for Scott in light of the Astroworld horror event that occurred earlier this month. But that can't be compared to the lives that were lost and, sadly, continue to be as survivors fight to survive.
According to REVOLT news, Nike was motivated to cancel the release date after learning of the recent death of Astroworld's tenth and youngest casualty, 9-year-old Ezra Blount, who tragically died in November 5 after being on life support at Texas Children's Hospital. TMZ reported in another article that the child attended the concert with his father, who placed him on his shoulders when the crowd chaos began to be unbearable.
But because of the overwhelming surge of panicked people, his father passed out, leaving the defenseless child on the floor...vulnerable to being crushed. The child suffered from acute swelling of the brain and internal bleeding before passing away. Not even Kylie Jenner could come to Scott's defense after this untimely death.
Travis Scott, Drake, and Live Nation have had multiple lawsuits filed against them for gross negligence, lack of security, medical assistance, crowd control, supervision, and organization. Ten lives were lost in the crowd stampede while they performed atop the suffocating fans who were seen in multiple videos pleading for help from stage security and Travis himself. Many people are questioning the credibility of Scott and Drake, who reportedly attended a Dave and Busters afterparty while chaos ensued in the crowd of fans who bought tickets to support their music.
Aside from Nike's statement to postpone the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack, the "Travis Scott Night" promotion where 3,000 Travis Scott t-shirts were to be handed out to fans in attendance at the Houston Rockets basketball game against the Detroit Pistons was also postponed.
